What They Don’t Tell You About the Quiet Moments After Pet Loss

There’s a strange silence that settles in after a pet is gone.
No more rustling. No gentle paws padding across the floor.
No nose nudging your hand for attention.

People talk about the big emotions—grief, sadness, maybe anger.
But they rarely mention the quiet. The stillness that makes you pause and realize just how deeply your companion filled the space.

It can be disorienting. Lonely. Heavy.
But you’re not strange for feeling this way. And you’re not alone.

God is near in the silence, too.

He’s not rushing your healing or minimizing your love.
He sees the way you pause at the food bowl.
He knows how your heart aches when you open the door and no one’s waiting.

If no one else gets it, I do.

You’re allowed to miss them. Deeply.
You’re allowed to grieve the quiet.

And little by little, love will fill the silence again.

With grace,
Paws of Grace
